August. Tempting invite to Bali Family and Friends Christmas. Flights booked in a nanosecond. Crushing my longing to travel again with this week long visit.
December. Four days ’til Christmas Day. Unhurried airport vibe. Reach for Chianti or three. Rapid ascent into happy holiday mode.

Fast forward five and a half hours. Denpasar Airport. Long, slow Immigration lines. Navigate airport arrivals hall. Locate driver. Whisk through deserted night streets. Sultry Balinese heat takes back seat as glacial air conditioning kicks in.
Nike Villas Sanur. Welcoming, discreet staff. Villa’s languid pool beckons. Slide in, grateful for private garden. Paddle in splendid isolation. Cacophany of gecko and frog symphony. Rapt to be back.

Deep sleep. Wake to Nike’s substantial breakfast – sweet papaya, pineapple, Indonesian porridge, fresh fruit juices, eggs galore, Balinese coffee.

Pleasure to walk Sanur streets. Dozens of cafes, spas, shops. Top notch friendly, smiling service.

Dinner choices aplenty. Simple and spicy wins every time.

Sanur gallops along gathering its faithful followers of old and new. Obvious growth spurt since last visit. Iconic Shopping Centre opens 2024. Megawati’s South Sanur planned resort in pipeline. Time waits for no man.
Christmas Day. Lunch at Westin Nusa Dua – hearty gathering of family and friends. Extensive, stunning buffets, enthusiastic live music, Santa visit!

Day trip. Semar Kuning Artist Co-operative near Ubud. Room after fantastic room of paintings. Takes 6 artists to complete large scale painting. No photos allowed. Counterfeit concern. Purchased this one. Suits my small abode. Thanks Vika and Pegasus Indonesia Travel – wonderful tour.

Thanks Kevin and Vika for being fabulous hosts. Had a terrific Christmas 🎄in beautiful Bali.
