Slovenia: Piran

Slovenia has a small Adriatic Sea coastline – just 46 kms, and it’s along here that the gorgeous Venetian influenced town of Piran is found.

Peninsula based Piran boasts sea views, winding cobbled alleyways, loads of seafood restaurants, a fabulous square surrounded by cafes and markets, 7th century walls and an active boat harbour.

Four days in easy going Piran was more than good for the travel soul.

This is my Piran photo feast.

View over Tartini Square. Guiseppi Tartini was an acclaimed violinist born 1692
Weather is warming up nicely for outdoor dining
Truffle pasta, a bottle of Slovenian red and grappa to finish. So good Porta Marciana – about 20 metres from our apartment.
Water temp is 13 at the rock beaches
There’s good walking from Piran to the town of Portoroz
This little store had all the essentials we needed to sustain us for the afternoons  – wine, cheese, olives, bread

Our stay at GG Art Apartments, a stone’s throw from Tartini Square was excellent, especially the relaxing balcony view.

That’s our apartment entry on the right

Heading to Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana today.
