Poland: Torun and Olsztyn

We’re trundling along quite nicely here in Poland, a country that’s decidedly easy for travellers. Transport like buses and trains are super easy to book on the run, accommodation is very clean and comfortable, there’s excellent sights/scenery and plenty of good food and drinks. Not much more we need really.

We arrived in Torun by bus from Warsaw. On the bank of the Vistula River with a wonderful medieval Old Town that surprisingly wasn’t bombed during WWII, this picturesque town deserved 3 nights. Tourist numbers are very healthy so the travel genie’s definitely out of the bottle and can’t be put back in as these photos attest.

Torun’s famous son Copernicus was born here in 1473. His discovery that the sun was stationary while the earth moved around it defied the thinking of the day.

From Torun we travelled to Olsztyn by train.
