I’ve dubbed 2020 as the year of travelling in my own country. We’ve had an explosive start to our summer with continuing drought, intense temperatures and horrific bushfires, and lost so much: animals, homes, towns, jobs, schools, agriculture and human lives. The country’s taken a smashing and still, the fires burn. Snippets of healing are taking place though. Rain is returning albeit in dribs and drabs and fire ravaged communities are bit by bit getting back on their feet. Later, we will visit and give back.
For now though, I’m at Noosa on the Queensland Sunshine coast, an area that’s thankfully escaped the fires. I’m enjoying a girls’ trip with friends from uni days. Despite the tyranny of distance (we’re scattered across this great terra nullus), it takes just a phone call to bring us together for good food, good wine and good talk. To indulge in all of this in stunning Noosa is indeedy special.

We had a fabulous time in Noosa. What’s not to like about this seaside gem just 90 minutes north of Brisbane that offers great beaches, walks, restaurants and shopping. ‘Til our next girls’ trip …
